Overall I believe many, including Christians, are finding it difficult to grapple with what's happening in the world today. One thing is for sure - we are in a decade of intense ‘realignment’. However, while the world is ‘downsizing’ and cutting back, this season has all the ‘hallmarks’ of a time of great hope and increase dependency on God for those who believe.

This can be an extraordinary time of miraculous provisioning and discovery – a season of growth, expansion and acceleration, with greater harvests for those willing to step out in faith and not be governed by their past or present circumstances. To be like Joshua who tasted the ‘first fruits’ of the promise land, but had to wait in the desert until a generation had died out because of their doubt and fear. We who have tasted of the promises of God, and not given up, need to bury the past and cast of all fear, in order to step into this season of promise before us. Friends, this is the decade of realignment!

It’s a time for believers to be a prophetic demonstration of God’s Kingdom in the midst of adversity. Remembering that the church was born in a crisis and achieved some of its amazing exploits, in and through crisis.

The four battlegrounds confronting Western societies are:

1. The battle for a new economics …

2. The social disintegration (the loss of real community) within society and the decreasing influence of an authentic spiritual and moral compass to guide it …

3. The challenge of Islam globally; especially societies built upon a Judeo-Christian base, holding liberal democratic secular ideals …

4. The crisis within creation due to the negligent stewardship of the environment and the earth's resource, along with the blatant disregard of peoples inalienable rights …

It is my hope to expand on these over the coming weeks and to share on what I see as the three burning issues that the church needs to confront.
