Finding out that I was a prophet–apostle confirmed a prophetic word over my life that was given to me 18 months before I did the course. It helped me to identify why some things that I get involved in bore me and some things motivate me. It also helped me to be more confident of God’s enabling when moving ahead in prophetic and apostolic areas. Before being asked I jumped at the opportunity of using my apostle and leadership gifts in establishing, planning and leading music team rehearsals because I knew that it was an area that my giftings and grace would be suited to. The Vocations 4 Life course has made me aware that I don’t like to maintain things and there is potential for that to be a weakness of mine in a leadership position. That is part of living with the tension and I am more at peace with this and look to identify others who are wired up to be great maintainers and love the things that would bore me in the day–to–day functions at work and in the gathering. Drawing upon his remarkable insights in the fields of history, philosophy, theology and theory of personality, Ben Gray has written a penetrating and passionate celebration of God’s grace in the earth.
Heaven’s Answer to Earth’s Dilemma is an important book. For all who are concerned for the direction of the Western church, this book is timely and challenging. Ben Gray is right in subtitling this work, ‘A Grace Revolution’, for it has the spirit of release and empowerment embedded in every chapter.
The most important paradigm shift that church leadership can make in the 21st century is to grasp that the kingdom of God is the central theme of the New Testament, nothing else. Everything about us missionally and ecclesiologically comes from this reality. Ben Gray lays out this revolution as well as anyone I have read.
Ben Gray is a natural when it comes to breaking down biblical concepts and expressing their significance to the world today. His knowledge of the Word and depth of insight define his biblical worldview from which comes fresh revelation for the body of Christ.
